The iPhone 6 is the latest smartphone launched by Apple on September 19, 2014. The iPhone 6 series jointly serves as a successor to theiPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. The iPhone 6 series includes a number of major changes over its predecessor, including a streamlined design, models with larger 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch displays, a faster processor, upgraded cameras, improved LTE and Wi-Fi connectivity, and support fornear-field communication (NFC) based mobile payment offering.
This article evaluates various latest features introduced to iPhone 6 and their patent coverage. Our study involved technically analyzing the features of iPhone 6 series and then searching for similar patents/patent applications within Apple’s patent portfolio. This study was conducted on various available patent databases.
